 .\n\nAbstract\n\nThe law of succession is on the reform agenda in the UK. 
 Before the law was changed for England and Wales in 2014\, the Law Commiss
 ion worked with researchers to conduct a large survey of public attitudes.
  Despite extensive social change and the acceptance of many different form
 s of being 'family'\, the nuclear family reigns supreme in attitudes towar
 ds inheritance. The Scottish government has now proposed making significan
 t changes. This workshop  will discuss recent developments in light of rec
 ent research and will examine the broader values underpinning inheritance 
 in terms of government policy and public attitudes.\n\nThis workshop has b
 een accredited by the Barreau du Québec for 1.5 hours of continuing legal
