Dr. Catherine Guastavino, Associate Professor and William Dawson Scholar, has received a 2016 SSHRC Insight Development Grant in collaboration with Ville de Montreal and Dumoulin Acoustics. On October 18, 2016, as a Local Arrangement Chair, prof. Fung听received the Service Award from the IEEE 2016 International Conference on Data Science and Advanced Analytics (DSAA鈥2016). The award comes with free registrations for the conference in the next three years.

Prof. Fung would like to congratulate his PhD students at SIS who served as volunteers at听the conference, he shares this honour with them. 听

Congratulations to 成人VR视频 School of Information Studies PhD student Fei Shu on receiving a FRQSC Doctoral Fellowship.

Fei鈥檚 research investigates the difference between Web of Science and local Chinese bibliometric databases and contributes to understanding of whether international bibliometric databases can be used to evaluate national research performance.

Fei's supervisors are Dr. Charles-Antoine Julien and Dr. Vincent Larivi猫re, EBSI, UdeM.

The 成人VR视频 School of Information Studies congratulates PhD in Information Studies student Fei Shu, recently selected for the iFellows Doctoral Fellowship program. Fei's thesis proposal was selected from a pool of applicants from 65 iSchools across the world. As an iFellow, Fei will receive a stipend of $50,000 USD over two years to pursue independent dissertation research that supports the goals of the Coherence at Scale Program.

成人VR视频 School of Information Studies faculty member Dr. Benjamin Fung has been awarded a Canada Research Chair (CRC Tier 2) in Data Mining for Cybersecurity. Dr. Fung's research program aims to enhance the data sharing and data mining capabilities for healthcare and cyber security professionals.

CRC Tier 2 chairs are awarded to exceptional emerging researchers, acknowledged by their peers as having the potential to lead in their field. For each Tier 2 Chair, the university receives $100,000 annually for five years.

Congratulations to 成人VR视频 School of Information Studies faculty member Dr. Catherine Guastavino on receiving an NSERC Engage Grant from the Natural Sciences & Engineering Research Council of Canada, in partnership with Montreal-based industry partner and market leader Applied Acoustics Systems. Doctoral student David Romblom (Music Technology and Multimodal Interaction Lab) will take a leading role in this project on the development of virtual acoustics models to enhance user experience with software musical instruments.

Congratulations to 成人VR视频 School of Information Studies PhD student Fei Shu, recently awarded the 2015 ASIS&T SIG/MET Student Paper Contest for the paper 鈥Evolution of iSchool Movement (1988-2013): A Bibliometric View鈥 by Fei Shu and Philippe Mongeon (成人VR视频 and University de Montreal).

As well, Fei鈥檚 paper "Twitter Activity and Scientific Collaboration of LIS schools and Faculty Members",听co-authored with two PhD students from EBSI,听won the Best Altmetrics Paper in the SIG/MET workshop at the ASIS&T Annual Meeting in November 2015.
