We are thrilled to announce accomplished federal public service leader Siobhan Harty has joined the Max Bell School as the Slater Family Visiting Scholar. She will be serving as the Research Director for the Second Century Commission, coaching a Policy Lab, and mentoring Master of Public Policy students.
Siobhan was a senior leader in the federal public service in a combination of policy, program and operational roles. In her most recent position as Senior Assistant Deputy Minister, Defence and Marine Procurement, Public Services and Procurement Canada, Siobhan was responsible for complex procurements for the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Coast Guard. She was also National Coordinator for the Icebreaker Collaboration Effort (ICE Pact) with the United States and Finland. Prior to that, she held various senior leadership positions in central agencies, such as Assistant Secretary, Priorities and Planning and Assistant Secretary, Legislation and House Planning, both at the Privy Council Office, and Assistant Secretary, Government Operations, Treasury Board Secretariat of Canada. As Director General, Social Policy at Employment and Social Development Canada and Senior Director, Emergency Management Planning at Public Safety Canada, Siobhan represented Canada at meetings at the OECD, the United Nations and other multilateral organizations.
Prior to joining the federal public service, Siobhan was Lecturer in Comparative European Politics in the Department of International Politics at Aberystwyth University (Wales). Siobhan obtained a PhD in Political Science from 成人VR视频, a MPhil in Latin American Studies from Oxford University, where she was a Rhodes Scholar, and a BA (Hons) in Political Science from Concordia University.
