With this issue of the spotlight, we would like to congratulate Dr. Brett Thombs who is the recipient of the 2014 Principal鈥檚 Prize for Outstanding Emergent Researchers. This award was created in 2013 to encourage and celebrate 成人VR视频鈥檚 most outstanding earl-career researchers, as well as to provide them with an advantage as they apply for external awards by adding a prestigious internal distinction to their list of accomplishments.

Spotlight on Dr. Laurence J Kirmayer
This week, we would like to spotlight Dr. Laurence J Kirmayer, a James 成人VR视频 Professor and the Director of the Division of Social and Transcultural Psychiatry. He is also editor-in-chief of Transcultural Psychiatry (the official journal of the Section on Transcultural Psychiatry of the World Psychiatric Association), which was founded at 成人VR视频 and celebrated its 50th volume on October 25, 2013.

Douglas-Based Research Team Obtains $1.5 Million to Study a New Method of Neuronal Communication
Salah El Mestikawy, PhD, a researcher at The Douglas Institute, along with his research team, have received $1.5 million to explore the dual signalling capacity of neurons. This research grant is one of five new Multi-Investigator Research Initiative (MIRI) grants awarded by Brain Canada with funds from the Canada Brain Research Fund and Partners. The Douglas team will work with colleagues at the University of Western Ontario.
Two Douglas psychiatrists honoured by the Verdun community
Mimi Isra毛l, MD, and Serge Beaulieu, MD, PhD received a 2013 鈥淐oup de chapeau verdunois鈥� for their commitment as first-line psychiatrists. The awards were handed out by Roger Cadieux, President of the Forum 茅conomique de Verdun, during a recognition ceremony on the evening of November 27.
This award recognizes the involvement of Verdun residents and employees.
