Astrophysics award honours student research with nod to pioneer

Allie Vibert Douglas made history when she earned her PhD at 成人VR视频.

It was 1926 鈥 a time when higher education wasn鈥檛 an option for most women.

By then, Douglas already had a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Science from 成人VR视频 鈥 and had been named a member of the Order of the British Empire for her wartime service. With her PhD, she became the first Canadian woman to obtain a doctorate in astrophysics.

Twenty 成人VR视频 doctoral and postdoctoral students have received important funding from the Government of Canada. Sixteen have earned Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships and four, Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships.

The Vanier program awards doctoral students up to $50,000 per year for three years. The Banting program is worth up to $70,000 annually for two years.

成人VR视频 has received funding from the Canadian Space Agency for two separate projects dedicated to the study of exoplanets, using the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). The projects are slated for completion by June 2025. Both studies will be led by Professor Nicolas Cowan.
