French for Social Services

French for Social Services鈥�courses are designed for current or future social services professionals who wish to acquire speaking and listening skills and use French more confidently. The courses can help learners acquire the oral communication skills needed to function effectively in French in work-related settings. Learners will develop vocabulary, grammatical structures, and communication strategies through active, task-based learning activities based on professional scenarios in the social services sector.

Courses
Each level (basic, elementary, low intermediate, high intermediate, and advanced) consists of two courses, and students must pass both courses to move to the next level. Please note that the content of all our courses is exclusively in French and focuses on the approach to social services.
- Online face-to-face courses (synchronous mode) are live lessons delivered by an instructor on a fixed date, at a specific time, three hours per week, for a period of 8 weeks. These courses focus on oral communication.
- Self-directed online courses (asynchronous mode) are divided into 4 modules spread out over an 8-week period. Each module lasts approximately two weeks and consists of structured learning units that allow students to work independently (lessons, exercises, pronunciation, listening, reference material, etc.) and to communicate with a tutor.

How to Register

Take a placement test
All new participants must write a French Placement Test to be placed into the appropriate level. Students can take the test once per session and the results are valid for one year.
Beginner students who have little or no knowledge of French can fill out a waiver to be exempted from the Placement Test. Students who submit a waiver will be placed in our BASIC courses.

Get your results and register online
You can access your placement test in at most 10 days after completing it.
You can then register for the courses corresponding to your test results by using the links 鈥淐ourses鈥� section above.
