We are proud to recognize the exceptional national and international leadership of our Department of Surgery faculty, who continue to shape the future of surgical care, education, and research through influential roles in leading professional organizations worldwide.

These accomplishments reflect the remarkable leadership, commitment, and global impact of our surgical faculty. We congratulate our colleagues on these well-deserved achievements and thank them for continuing to elevate our Department, our institution, and the surgical profession around the world.

Dr. Mitchell Bernstein, Associate Professor of Surgery and Pediatric Surgery, currently serves as President of the Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction Society, reflecting his global leadership in pediatric orthopaedics. In addition, as Program Director of 成人VR视频鈥檚 Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program, he plays a pivotal role in training the next generation of surgeons while advancing innovation in limb lengthening, complex reconstruction, and orthopaedic trauma.

Dr. Wassim Kassouf is serving as President of the Canadian Urological Association (CUA) (2025鈥�2026), where he works closely with colleagues nationwide to advance patient care, education, and research in urology. His leadership includes guiding national priorities, contributing to clinical guidelines, fostering partnerships with patient advocacy organizations, and strengthening collaboration across the Canadian urology community.

Dr. Sender Liberman serves as President of the Canadian Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (CSCRS), where he provides national leadership to advance colorectal surgery through education, research, and professional collaboration. In this role, he chairs the Executive Board, helps to shape the Society鈥檚 strategic direction, and contributes to national surgical education through the Canadian Surgery Forum Planning Committee. Dr. Liberman also serves as Chair of the Specialty Committee for Colorectal Surgery at the Royal College (2026鈥�2030), following his tenure as Vice-Chair (2020鈥�2026). In this capacity, he helps guide national standards for training, assessment, and accreditation in colorectal surgery.

Dr. Lorenzo Ferri has been reappointed as President of the International Society for Diseases of the Esophagus (ISDE), recognizing his leadership and contributions to advancing the field. An esophageal surgeon and Director of the Division of Thoracic and Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery at 成人VR视频, he is also a tenured professor in the Departments of Surgery and Oncology. During his presidency, Dr. Ferri has expanded ISDE鈥檚 global reach through initiatives such as growing membership, launching a webinar series, strengthening international partnerships, and supporting exchange fellowships. He will continue these efforts in his second term. Dr. Ferri also serves as President of the Executive Committee of the International Society for Digestive Surgery (2024鈥�2026), further highlighting his leadership on the international stage.
