Next steps

Once聽you鈥檝e聽been accepted to the Work Study program,聽it鈥檚聽time to apply for jobs!聽

  1. :聽Work Study positions are聽located聽on campus or in surrounding facilities and are designed to fit around your academic schedule.听
  2. Apply for jobs:聽Include your聽Work Study confirmation letter聽in your job application.听International students鈥痵hould refer to聽Work and Permits聽for聽important information聽on聽working during your studies.
  3. Get聽hired聽and make a schedule:聽Decide on a work schedule聽with your employer.听聽We recommend no more than 15 hours of work per week.听聽

Your Responsibilities

If your employer uses聽Workday, you must enter your time worked in Workday to get paid.听

Work Study participants聽must:聽

  • Maintain satisfactory academic standing聽
  • Maintain full-time status in a degree program聽
  • Obtain a Canadian Social Insurance Number聽(if you聽don鈥檛聽already have one)聽

If you no longer meet the program鈥檚 eligibility requirements (for example,聽dropping聽to part-time status, withdrawing聽from the University, or finishing聽your degree program), your Work Study authorization will be rescinded.

Your Rights

As a 成人VR视频 student casual employee聽participating聽in the Work Study program, you will become a member of a union.听聽Read your union鈥檚 collective agreement鈥痶o聽learn about聽your employment conditions,聽salary structure,聽and rates of pay:聽

Your Employer's Responsibilities

  • Follow all Human聽Resources聽employment procedures聽
  • Ensure you are suitably trained and supervised聽
  • Ensure you are paid every two weeks聽
  • Adhere to the employment conditions of the聽appropriate collective聽agreement聽

Summer Jobs

Students are strongly encouraged, as part of their financial plan, to work during the summer months to help save for the upcoming academic聽year.听Participation in the Work Study Program can be extended to include the summer term, so long as you are not scheduled to graduate in the current academic year.听Please send your聽extension聽request to聽work.study [at] mcgill.ca.听
